Upsizing, downsizing or relocating. We work out whether to take your current mortgage with you or start afresh, and manage it alongside your move.
If you own the home you live in, with or without a mortgage, and you want to move, you are a home mover.
A home mover mortgage is a new mortgage on the property you are buying. That could mean moving your existing mortgage to the new property, known as porting, or taking out a completely new one.
It may be years since you last moved, and the property and mortgage markets change constantly. What was right last time may not be right now.

Many mortgages are portable, which means you can ask to move the product to a new property. You still have to apply again and meet the lender's criteria at that point, and any extra borrowing is usually on a different rate.
We compare porting with switching, including any early repayment charge for leaving your current deal.
For most movers the equity in the current home forms the deposit on the next one. Most residential lenders want at least 5% of the new property's value. A bigger deposit generally opens up more lenders and lower rates.
It is not just about the interest rate. A low rate with a high fee can cost more overall than a slightly higher rate with no fee. We look at the whole picture, including fees, cashback and early repayment charges, and recommend what suits your circumstances.
